RLC Culinary Arts program brings home the win at HamCo Food Fest

February 15, 2024

INA, Ill. (February 15, 2024)—The Culinary Arts department went to the 2024 Hamco Food & Brew Fest to show off their culinary skills in the food competition and returned with two first place ribbons!

Chef Daniel Brock, RLC’s Culinary Arts Instructor, said he had the privilege of taking some of the culinary arts student to the food competition this year. They placed first in the appetizer category with New Orleans BBQ Shrimp and first place in dessert with chocolate mousse that looked like a glass of Guinness.

They were also voted Peoples’ Choice overall, which they received a trophy for; Brock says he considers this an honor considering the stiff competition they were up against: Uncle Joes, Foxy, RLC alumni owned Sammy’s Cheesecakes, and many more.

“I am beyond proud of the accomplishment, the food, the understanding of flavors, and work ethic these talented students displayed,” said Brock.

The trophy and two first place ribbons are on display in the case outside of STC 103.
