INA, Ill. (April 4, 2013) - Kim Robert has been named to another term on the American Society of Radiologic Technologists Committee on R.T. Advocacy. The mission of the ASRT is to foster the professional growth of radiologic technologists through education, research and analysis, and leadership development.

Robert, of Carlyle, is the Dean of 海角视频芒鈧劉s Allied Health Division. She was promoted to that position after serving as director of the college芒鈧劉s radiologic technology program. She芒鈧劉ll serve a two year term (2013-2015) for the ASRT starting in June. Her previous roles with ASRT include Advocacy Committee (2005-2010), Committee on Nominations (2007-2009), Leadership Academy (2007), and advocating in Washington D.C. (2004-2009).
The ASRT Committee on R.T. Advocacy members are appointed by the ASRT Board of Directors as representatives for nine geographical regions. It is the highest volunteer position under the ASRT Board. Robert will represent Region 5.
In a letter to Robert, ASRT Board Chair Dawn McNeil stated, 芒鈧揗ember volunteers are one of the ASRT芒鈧劉s greatest assets. It is through the efforts of dedicated volunteers like you serving on ASRT committees that we can meet the challenge of the Society芒鈧劉s mission to elevate the status of the radiologic science profession.芒鈧�
芒鈧揑t is an honor to have been chosen by the ASRT Board of Directors,芒鈧� said Robert. 芒鈧揗edical radiation procedures come with risks to the patient and it is important that radiologic technologists correctly administer radiation, position patients and shield patients. It is my goal, as well as the goal of the committee, to have all states require proper education to radiologic technologists.芒鈧�
According to the letter, Robert is charged with a number of tasks; including the developing regional networks to collect and disseminate legislative information; and contributing a handful of articles to Scanner - a magazine put out bi-monthly by the ASRT that covers news about the Society and the radiologic technology profession - and Legislative Review - the organization芒鈧劉s online newsletter designed to inform members about state and federal legislation affecting them. Robert is also tasked with serving as a content expert for issues addressed through ASRT芒鈧劉s Government Relations and Public Policy Department, mentor ASRT members and potential committee volunteers in their network development efforts, and mentor and assist affiliate societies with efforts to establish, enhance and protect professional standards for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals at the state level.
Robert has served in a variety of roles with the Illinois State Society of Radiologic Technologists Board, including chair, president and vice president. She is currently serving her third year of a four-year term with the Radiologic Technologists Advisory Board, appointed by Illinois芒鈧劉 governor. From 2003-2007, Robert reviewed programs for accreditation purposes as a site visitor for the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
